The purpose of the course is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies; to know how to care for a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Infant, child and adult skills are covered in this course. The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric Blended Learning class is divided into two sessions: an online session (time range is .50 to 4.5 hours depending on pre-assessment) and then a subsequent skills session (scheduled for 2 hours 30 minutes).
